Exploring Savannah’s Forsyth Park

Meandering through historic downtown Savannah together was good for the soul. For June, the day was cool and damp, creating an almost otherworldly beauty. 

If you haven’t been, I strongly suggest adding it to your list! We’ve been twice now for photography workshops, and it is fast becoming a favorite destination! If you are planning a Savannah wedding, we would love to be your photographer.

Our favorite things about Savannah:

The live oaks. Living in Missouri, I cannot get over the beautiful twisting limbs and wide canopy that create this unique landscape. We were there during a rainy week, and as a result, the Resurrection Ferns were out. These ferns line the limbs of the giant oak trees. Apparently, they shrivel up, turn brown, and appear to be dead in dry weather, yet will become lush and green after a rain.

And of course, we mustn’t forget the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. I wonder, do the locals appreciate this, or do they take it for granted? To us, it was magical.

The play of light and shadows in Forsyth Park adds an ethereal quality to photographs.

The beautiful architecture and history. There is an undeniable significance around the long American history of Savannah, and I love to see how well-preserved it is. The architecture is unique and charming and runs block after block in the historic downtown area.

Exploring new places together is one of our favorite things. Add a camera, and hearts overflow!
